Acquisitions of small companies by technology giants are the beginning of a new stage in the former. New projects, new direction, and new objectives. Apple has always been characterized by buying companies with the aim of improving something they lack or want to improve. In recent years, artificial intelligence and virtual reality companies have taken the cake when it comes to acquisitions. And these days we add one more new company: NextVR. It is an American company dedicated to streaming video in a virtual reality known for its broadcasts in the NBA, WWE, and other events.
A promising future for virtual reality with NextVR
A few hours ago we discussed the forecasts of analyst Ming Chi-Kuo in relation to the next devices of the big apple. According to this analyst, the Apple Glasses could arrive in 2022, and Apple could be planning for the deployment of virtual reality. These glasses would allow the user a large number of options that until now we do not know. However, knowing Apple we will have the entire ecosystem of devices and services in our eyes.
The new acquisition by Apple is NextVR. It is a company in charge of broadcasting sports, music, and entertainment events, providing them with a virtual reality experience compatible with a large number of VR glasses from Google, Microsoft, Playstation, and others. What seems like a simple event broadcasting company to give a different touch to them is not what has caught the attention of Apple, or so we believe.
NextVR holds more than 40 patents on the technologies used to broadcast. That is why together with human capital is what Apple was looking for, getting a key technology to improve and plan a virtual reality deployment that could start in 2022 with the official launch of Apple Glasses. The final purchase could be closed for $ 100 million and it has already been confirmed that some of NextVR employees will move their things to the Apple Campus to work in the offices of the big apple.
