The industry is full of franchises that had good moments but that, for various reasons, were little by little forgotten. One of them is Tenchu, a series that debuted in 1998 for the first PlayStation.
The series had several main deliveries and spin-offs for Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo consoles. However, after Tenchu: Shadow Assassins we did not hear more about her. Now Acquire, the developer studio in charge of nearly all of its installments, has an interest in a revival.
Takuma Endo, president of the study, recently spoke about the possible return of the saga and a new project related to the independent industry that he has in hand.
ACQUIRE DOES NOT COMPLETELY RULE OUT THE RETURN OF TENCHU
During an interview with Famitsu (via Gematsu ), Endo stated that the revival of Tenchu seems difficult for him today. Despite this, the manager is interested in creating a new installment of the franchise.
Endo noted that he would like to see the game on the PlayStation 5 generation, if ever there is an opportunity to make the project a reality. On the other hand, it revealed that the registration of the Stealth Assassin brand that was made in 2018 was carried out solely to renew it.
However, the manager hinted that the brand is the basis for a possible return of the saga. Endo explained that their immediate plans are to launch an independent brand to distribute games as part of Acquire. His goal is for the brand to release its first game later this year. For now, no details of said title have been shared, so we will have to be patient and wait.
Finally, the president of Acquire confirmed that Gladiux is still in development. In case you don’t know, this is a title announced months ago as a successor to Gladiator Begins for PSP.
It is important to mention that Endo did not fully confirm Tenchu’s return , but it is a possibility that could come true in the future.
