The great video games usually arrive accompanied by special editions of the consoles in which they are released, and the highly anticipated The Last of Us: Part II is not going to be an exception. Sony has released the special edition of PlayStation 4 Pro with motifs dedicated to the Naughty Dog video game, confirming its release date and the extras that will also go on sale that same day.
This special PS4 Pro model is made in a matte finish and represents the tattoo of Ellie, the main protagonist of this action-adventure, not with a sticker but with an engraving. “It had not been done before, so we did not know if it could, but we found the way thanks to the fantastic work of the PlayStation teams,” say from Naughty Dog, who have been delighted with this special edition.
Next to the console, players will find the boxed video game itself, in addition to a limited edition DualShock 4 with similar motifs on its cover, and a touchpad with the name of The Last of Us: Part II. Why the tattoo and not another aesthetic element of the game? Its creators were clear. “When we announced The Last of Us Part II, we had no idea that Ellie’s tattoo was going to make such a deep impression on fans of the game,” said Naughty Dog art director John Sweeney. “The next day we started seeing real versions on social media, and since then fans have been sharing photos of his new tattoos week after week.”
Its design “had already become a symbol of the game in the eyes of the community, as had the emblem of the Fireflies in the first part.” It is not the only collectible item to go on sale on June 19, coinciding with the premiere of The Last of Us 2, as it has also collaborated with Seagate to create a 2TB external hard drive with motifs identical to the price of 78.99 euros. On the other hand, PlayStation has also presented some limited edition wireless helmets in a matte Steel Black finish with interior pads in crimson.
