Until now, Samsung has always included headphones in the box of its smartphones.
However, the company has stopped including headphones with the Galaxy Note 20 in the United States and Canada. The funny thing is, there is still a way to get them for free.
Although the Samsung Galaxy Note20 is not yet for sale, many media outlets already have a unit for analysis. We can confirm that the box that is distributed in Spain arrives with headphones, but some American media were surprised to see that there are no headphones in the box.
Samsung has confirmed that it no longer includes wired headphones in the box for flagships in North America:
We no longer offer corded headsets in the box for our flagship phones in North America.
More and more consumers are choosing to use Bluetooth and wireless headphones that are tailored to their own preferences, and the use of wired headphones, even when we have included compatible solutions in the box, has steadily declined.
For those consumers who prefer USB-C wired headphones, our customer support team can provide them upon request.
This is likely because more and more people are using wireless earbuds and thus not putting out-of-the-box earphones at all. Therefore, Samsung must have thought that there was little point in continuing to include. Luckily, it still offers a way to get them for free.
Buyers in the United States and Canada can contact Samsung support once they have their new Galaxy Note 20 device and they will ship their pair of AKG wired headphones (the same ones that come in other regions) at no cost.
Since no one has been able to buy a Galaxy Note 20 or a Note 20 Ultra, we do not know how well the process works but presumably we will know more soon.
