Apple is allegedly testing a prototype with Foxconn for the foldable iPhone model.
It was claimed that Apple sent the foldable iPhone smartphone model to Foxconn , which it has been working with for a long time, and if everything goes as planned, the device will meet users in the third quarter of 2022 .
The allegations speak of Apple and Foxconn’s partnership that goes beyond the assembly of candybar form factor iPhones. This time around, Apple is said to have asked Foxconn to test the foldable screen and bearings, while these bearings, which are responsible for the folding of the screen, will likely be sourced from different suppliers. Of course, the final assembly will be owned by Foxconn.
At this stage , it is not known whether the foldable iPhone will use OLED or microLED technology. If everything goes according to plan, it is estimated that the transition to microLED can take about 3-4 years. It is shared that Apple has previously purchased foldable screens from Samsung. On the other hand, the company is not expected to be the main supplier for this component.
It is suggested that the foldable iPhone will offer 256 GB of internal storage and carry a price tag of $ 1,499. Apple is expected to offer a high degree of folding tolerance, unlike its competitors. For this reason, Foxconn will perform over 100 thousand on and off tests on various prototypes.
