This year 2020 has been a revolution in many aspects. And this has been reflected in the purchasing preferences of users, with an increase in the sales of tablets and Chromebooks in contexts such as education that have gone from face-to-face to face-to-face modalities. This is reflected in the figures of the Canalys company, which is in charge of analyzing the sales figures for different products.
In their latest report, you can see how the landscape of the PC market has changed, with Chromebooks benefiting the most from this paradigm shift. Specifically, no less than 9.4 million units have been sold this third quarter of 2020, with a growth of 122% compared to the third quarter of 2019.
Laptops with detachable keyboards have increased sales 88% while desktop PCs have decreased 27% in workstations and 33% in tower or small form factor equipment. HP and Lenovo have sold the most Chromebooks this third quarter and this trend is expected to continue.
Lenovo is in first place in the PC market share including tablets in this third quarter, with 18.9%, followed by Apple with 17.7% and HP with 15%. Apple grows 40% thanks to tablets. Samsung also increases market share by 86.2% thanks to tablets.
