The ROG Phone 3 debuted a few days ago with powerful specs but the most notable aspect of the ROG Phone family has always been its high refresh rate.
The new ROG Phone 3 has a 144Hz rate panel, but ASUS has a 160Hz mode in testing that anyone with a ROG Phone 3 can activate with an ADB command.
The guys at XDA have discovered this hidden 160Hz mode while fiddling with the settings and found a command that makes the 160Hz mode appear as an option in the settings: adb shell setprop debug.vendor.asus.fps.eng 1
Once this command is entered and the phone reboots, a 160 Hz option appears in Settings> Display> Refresh rate.
XDA ran some tests and found that the phone works at 160Hz. Most of the apps and games that ASUS says operate at 144Hz have no limits and will probably work at 160Hz as well.
Obviously, the 160Hz mode is not ready for the general public and therefore can only be activated by a special command. Still, if you’ve been planning to get a ROG Phone 3 and want to get the most out of it, you already have a way to go further.
