Apple will pay $ 113 million in compensation for intentionally slowing down older iPhone models.

As you may remember, with the iOS 10.2.1 update released by Apple in 2017, it was determined that the old iPhone models were systematically slowed down through software updates. After the scandal called Batterygate , millions of iPhone users were affected by this incident. Although Apple stated that it used such a move to protect the battery life of its old iPhone models, the court decided to pay a total of $ 500 million in compensation .

In this direction, Apple, which agreed to pay $ 25 for each victim affected by the incident, was given a new compensation penalty today. According to the reports published on the subject, as a result of the lawsuits filed in 34 states of the USA, we see that Apple will pay another $ 113 million in damages for secretly slowing the iPhones.

As you know, Apple first  admitted claims of deliberate slowdown in  2017 . In this direction, it temporarily  reduced the cost of out-of-warranty battery replacements from $ 79 to $ 29 to apologize to users  . It was announced that approximately 11 million iPhone users benefited from this battery replacement discount  . The iPhone models that Apple deliberately slowed down are listed as follows:

  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone 6s
