Apple iPhone 12 models use Qualcomm’s 5G X55 modem

The first video has already been published that shows, in a summarized way but with great detail, an exploded view of the iPhone 12, Apple’s new top-of-the-range smartphone.

The apple company has slightly modified the design of the iPhone 12, introducing a metal frame that takes the shape of the iPhone 5. This gives it a more angular finish, but has kept the metal and glass construction, and has repeated a bet by the glue as a solution to keep the components “in place”.

Internally, the iPhone 12 has important similarities to the iPhone 11, but there are also differences between the two. The first has a larger plate, something that is due to the need to leave more space to insert the 5G modem.

Apple has turned to Qualcomm and has integrated an X55 modem. To compensate for the space occupied by this new component, the apple company has reduced the size of other components. For example, the OLED screen is thinner, the haptic feedback motor is also smaller, and the battery has a lower capacity than the iPhone 11.

The iPhone 12 is 11% thinner and 16% lighter than the iPhone 11, but it has a shorter autonomy, as expected. Apple has improved the performance and the benefits thanks to the integration of an A14 SoC and the increase of the RAM memory up to 4 GB. The price of the iPhone 12 is 809 euros, taxes included.
