Specifically, the filming of Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth film with Thor as the protagonist, seems almost imminent as new confirmations are released about its cast, such as the return of Lady Sif or the signing of Christian Bale as Gorr: The Butcher of the Gods. Of course, it seems that Bale will not be the only new signing, since several sources suggest that Matt Damon will also appear in the film.
The news would have jumped when Damon was seen arriving in Sydney in a private jet with his family and confirming that the entire family will be in quarantine before being able to join the production of Thor: Love and Thunder. Other cast members like Tessa Thompson, Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista are also going through the same quarantine period required by the Australian government to prevent possible COVID-19 infections, so the situation is not strange right now.
For now Damon’s possible role in the film remains a mystery. The actor already had a small cameo in Thor: Ragnarok, where he played Loki in a play in Asgard, but it is certainly quite unlikely that Damon and his family would travel to Sydney and undergo quarantine if their work in the movie was just another cameo or minor character.
Meanwhile, Natalie Portman has been in Australia for several months now and continues to physically prepare for her role as the Goddess of Thunder, with the film drawing heavily on one of the most important arcs in modern Thor history. What do you think? Which Marvel character do you think Matt Damon could play in the next Thor movie?
