Sony and PlayStation plan to expand some of their franchises beyond video games and adapt them to series or bring them to the screens of theaters. A clear example is the series The Last of Us, production by HBO already confirmed.
There have long been reports of a possible Twisted Metal series, a franchise created by David Jaffe. Some leads pointed out that the production would be a comedy and that a Batman actor would play Sweet Tooth , but the information was not confirmed.
Now, thanks to a new report from Variety , we know that Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions are indeed working on a Twisted Metal adaptation. The companies will make a series that will recover the hectic world and the crazy characters of the vehicle combat title.
THE TWISTED METAL SERIES WILL HAVE A LOT OF ACTION AND COMEDY
According to sources, the Twisted Metal series will bring back the iconic action of the video game franchise and mix it with hints of comedy. The project is in charge of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, writers of Deadpool and Zombieland.
Asad Qizilbashm, director of PlayStation Productions, said they are excited about the project, as they will bring back one of the most iconic franchises of the brand. The production will tell us the life of an outsider who is offered the opportunity to improve his life.
This is how you will enter the world of vehicle destruction competitions and face multiple challenges in combat zones. The series will feature characters like Sweet Tooth.
” Twisted Metal is one of the most beloved franchises on PlayStation. We are delighted to have a great team working to bring this iconic game to life for fans,” said the manager.
On the other hand, we know that Michael Jonathan Smith, writer and producer of Cobra Kai , will be executive producer and will be in charge of part of the story. Reese and Wernick will also serve as producers along with Will Arnett, Marc Forman and Peter Principato of Electric Avenue and Artists First.
Qizilbash and Carter Swan, members of PlayStation Productions, will be part of the creative team along with Hermen Hulst, director of PlayStation Studios

According to some reports, Arnett could play the voice of Sweet Tooth, but it is not entirely confirmed. We will have to wait to know more details of this production.
