A few hours after our preview review of The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf , the animated prequel to The Witcher series due out on Netflix August 23, the on-demand streaming service has announced the main cast of the live-action prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin .
Lenny Henry ( The Lord of the Rings ), Mirren Mack ( The Nest ), Nathaniel Curtis ( It’s A Sin ) and Dylan Moran ( Black Books ) have officially joined the cast of Netflix’s new fantasy series The Witcher: Blood Origin , filming is currently underway in the UK. Set in an elven world 1200 years before the events told in The Witcher , the live-action prequel Blood Origin will tell the creation of the first Witcher prototype and the events leading up to the fundamental “Conjunction of the Spheres”, when the worlds of monsters, men and elves united to become one.
Previously Laurence O’Fuarain ( Vikings ), Sophia Brown ( Marcella ) and Michelle Yeoh ( The Tiger and the Dragon, Shang-chi ) had already been announced as the protagonists of Blood Origin , with the series that will consist of six episodes. Jacob Collins Levy ( Young Wallander ) recently joined the cast as Eredin, Lizzie Annis as Zacaré, Huw Novelli ( The Capture ) as Callan “Brother Death”, Francesca Mills ( Harlots ) as Meldof, Amy Murray as Fenrik and Zach Wyatt as Syndril. Sarah O’Gorman ( Cursed ) will direct episodes 101,104 and 106, and Vicky Jewishon ( Close) will direct episodes 102, 103 and 105. Andrzej Sapkowski will serve as creative consultant .
The Witcher 2 will be released on December 17th on Netflix on demand streaming service.
